Trisomy 18 – A Prayer Request

Trisomy 18

Tonight, I am asking for all of your prayers, well wishes and good vibes … a very dear friend of mine is at this very moment 34 weeks pregnant and in labor/ She has known for quite a while that her little boy has  Trisomy 18.  I believe in the power of prayer and I believe in miracles.  And we need one now.

I feel like this post should … contain more … but I don’t even have the words to describe what I’m feeling right now.  My heart is breaking for my friend knowing the tough road her family is embarking on …

I am a firm believer in knowledge is power.   So few people know about Trisomy 18, I had never heard of it until my friend’s baby was diagnosed, which is why I’m hoping this post will be two-fold: a prayer request and to raise awareness.  I am so proud of the woman mother my friend is, for educating and preparing herself with poise, and strength.   I am honored to call her a friend.

Mommies … hold on to your littles a bit longer and tighter tonight.  Their health is not something to take for granted.  This world is filled with so much uncertainty and devastation  it is so important to appreciate the littleness of things …

  8. Please tell your friend that her baby is in God’s hands. Nobody can say with certainty what will happen. My daughter has trisomy 18. She will be turning 5 years old this year. My daughter is one of many who are thriving and surviving. There are many wonderful support groups for parents, let me know and I will send you the links.

    • Thank you so very much for your comment! My friends sweet little boy passed away just two hours after he was born … How amazing that your daughter is doing so well! How wonderful that there are great support groups for families/parents of Trisomy 18 children! :)
