So Friday night in on the bus coming home from work … I’m sitting towards the back reading my Kindle minding my business. I get off the bus second to last stop, so usually I end up being one of the last people on the bus … I take an express bus from the city so once you get into Brooklyn there are no more pickups, only drop offs. Many times if the bus driver thinks the bus is empty he will yell out ‘Anyone still on the bus?’ And I assume if no one answers will jump on the highway to his next destination. So now, here we are one stop before mine, the bus normally makes a right. Instead the bus driver made a left onto the highway. With me still on the bus! He didn’t stop to check or ask or make sure the bus was empty! It all happened soooo quickly! i jumped up instantly and was like “Um, excuse me!” And the bus driver goes “Oh! Where did you come from?!” Seriously?! I didn’t sneak on through the window! I’ve been on the bus the whole time! He goes “I looked in the mirror I didn’t see anyone!” So I’m like “I am short, you can’t see me behind the seats you should have checked!” So then we proceed to be stuck in rush hour traffic on the highway until he could get off and backtrack to get me to my stop … When we finally get to my stop I kindly say “Thank you” because I’m nice even though I’m super annoyed and he was so totally in the wrong … And the jerk doesn’t say anything … Not even an apology! Ugh … If I wasn’t so annoyed at the time I would have gotten the bus number and his MTA badge number to complain … But I just couldn’t wait to get off that us and be home! Fun start to my weekend, wouldn’t ya say?! :-/

I probably would have had a complete meltdown. I don’t handle that kind of stuff very well… way to much anxiety.
I’d probably still call and report the incident even though you don’t have specifics. I would think they would need to finish their route regardless of whether there are still patrons on the bus or not.

Hmm, the only reason I don’t think they would need to finish their route is because it’s not like people can get on the bus at the other stops, it’s drop-off only, ya know?
